April Showers…

We’ve probably all heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers!” Both parts of the saying make for great playtime themes while “hiding” some early math skills.
Sensory Bins
Sensory bins are extremely popular in the early childhood world right now, and for good reason! Sensory bins offer fun, hands-on play that allows children an opportunity to explore different textures, fine motor skills, speech development and so much more. They can be made with special, curated items to fit your theme - or they can be made with things you already have around your house! Sensory bins also allow for opportunities to count, find numbers or shapes, sort items, make patterns, and so much more.
Arts & Crafts
When I think of rain, I think of the color blue for water, grey for clouds, yellow for rain boots, and rainbows! This can all help inspire creativity in your little while practicing color recognition or pattern making!
Imaginative Play
Using toys you already have (doll house toys, action figures, stuffed animals), you and your child can act out different scenarios related to rainy days. Oh no! The family was out playing at the park and it started to rain, what will they do? or Mom and Dad (or relatable adult) said we could go for a walk, but it is raining. Can we still go on a walk?
